Please fill out and return ASAP

Dear Choir Families,

It was such a pleasure seeing so you all at the spring concert and hearing all the beautiful voices of your children!

If you missed the survey – please copy it from below into an email, fill it out and email it back to us ASAP. (Or you can download a WORD version here and email it to us as an attachment).

If you took home a paper copy and don’t want to type it out, it would be easiest for us if you would take a photo of it and send it along that way.

Subject: Canadian Opera Company Student Dress Rehearsals

Dear Parents and Choristers,
We are very pleased to be able to offer our senior choristers and alumni an amazing opportunity to attend two Student Dress rehearsals next season at the Canadian Opera Company.
Our own conductor, Jennifer Robinson, will be performing in the chorus of both shows!
Dates & Times:
  • Mozarts Magic Flute –  Monday Jan 16, 2017 @ 7:30pm
  • Puccini’s Tosca – Thursday April 27, 2017 @ 7:30pm
  • Running time: These are full length performances of the operas, with intermissions – they typically run 3 – 3.5 hours, so finish around 11pm. We will give you a more exact pick up time closer to the performances.
  • Four Seasons Centre, south-east corner of Queen Street and University Avenue, next to the Osgoode subway station.
  • $15 per child, per performance
  • There will be 1 complimentary adult chaperone ticket per 10 students.
  • Additional adult tickets are not available for sale to the student dress rehearsals.
  • Choir families will be responsible for organizing their own transportation (ie: carpool/TTC) for students to and from the Four Seasons Centre.
  • The group and chaperone(s) will assemble 15-20 minutes before the show and enter together.
Reserving your tickets:
  • If your child is interested in attending, please reply to this email before Friday June 20 and let us know:
    • name of child
    • which opera(s) your child would like to attend (you can choose both)
  • We need at least 10 choristers for each performance to go forward.
  • We also need to confirm and pay for the group by June 30, so payments will be due Friday June 24.
  • Booking/Payment details will be emailed to families who have indicated their interest by replying to this email by June 20
Thank you!

Welcome to the 2015/2016 year of the Mimico Children’s Choir!

Whether you are a new or returning choir member, we are so excited to have you joining us this year, which promises to be the best one yet! We’ll be practicing every Thursday from 3:45 – 4:45 in the basement of the Mimico Baptist Church at 80 Hillside Ave. With a wide variety of spiritual, classical, folk and musical theatre repertoire – and some exciting special performances – there is something for everyone!

We ask that you please take the time to read through your Registration package carefully, and to fill out every section prior to handing your package back in at rehearsal on Thursday, September 24th.

Three quick notes:

  • Fees: If you are a returning choir member you will notice that in an effort to facilitate participation there has been no change in fees for this year. We ask that families who are able to, to please consider giving an added donation to the choir to help offset rising costs, and to allow us to continue to offer bursaries for qualifying families.
  • Volunteering: The Mimico Children’s Choir is a largely volunteer-run organization, and we rely on all of our choir families to participate in volunteering over the course of the year. While we understand that not every family will be able to participate equally, please take the time to carefully fill out the Volunteer Form and let us know what kind of roles suit you best.
  • Chorister Guidelines: Prior to returning this package, please take a moment to review our chorister guidelines, found at

Also, please save the following important dates (more details to come):

  • Saturday, October 17th at 1 pm for our Annual General Meeting and Parent Orientation, taking place at the Mimico Baptist Church
  • Saturday, November 7th for our first ever Choir Camp Day, also taking place at Mimico Baptist Church.

If you have any questions about fees, volunteering, or anything else about this package or the choir at large, please feel free to contact us at

Thank you for joining us this season! We are so excited to have you!

Time: Meet at Mimico Baptist by 2:45. Bus departs 3pm, Return ~5:30pm

As many or most parents are working during the day, Jenn will meet the kids at John English and escort them to the Church, and Kim will arrange a carpool from Seventh Street.

It is important for us to gain written permission to sign your children out from their school. If kids at St. Leo’s or other schools further north need an escort, please let us know how we can help – we may be able to connect you with other parents.

** Please fill out and sign the appropriate form(s) and send to school with your child(ren) on the day of the performance to show to their Teacher. Don’t forget to pack their Choir Shirts and black bottoms that day!
Download Permission Slips: John English JMS | Seventh St. PS

Some of the Seventh Street forms were mistakenly sent home June 11 with Jenn’s name. Please use the appropriate form above. Also if you have two children in the Choir, they will need separate forms to show their respective teachers – please print  if you need another copy.

Next Thursday June 18’s rehearsal (usual time and place) is mandatory for all those performing on June 24th.

If you have not already done so, please let us know if your child cannot do the performance on June 24 so we have an exact count for everyone’s safety, and the bus doesn’t leave anyone behind!
